Networking component major Juniper Network (NASDAQ:JNPR) is gradually tightening its grip on the cloud computing market. The company recently made significant additions to the Juniper Networks vGW Virtual Gateway solution for customers looking for a comprehensive virtualization security platform.

These newly added functions with virtualization-specific antivirus (AV) will secure and continuously monitor malware and hackers, as well as ensure that security does not impede virtualized workload performance or present a barrier to implementing large-scale virtualized environments…

The company is slowly coming up with innovative and user friendly solutions to cater to a variety of customers in the cloud computing space. Juniper provides innovative solutions to integrate physical and virtual network security at scale with vGW Virtual Gateway and the SRX series. Moreover, the company has also made provisions to provide a tightly-integrated virtual solution for defense-in-depth protection and centralized security management.

Apart from cloud computing, the company is also expanding its business in China. Juniper provided its new networking architecture to China Mobile Limited (NYSE:CHL), the largest mobile network operator in China. The network architecture aims at helping China Mobile to capture share in the growing smartphones market. Juniper’s latest network architecture also runs on Junos operating software.

The continued launch of new products and entry into new markets will provide a significant edge to Juniper. We believe that increased spending by key carriers, such as AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Verizon Inc. (NYSE:VZ) as well as the ongoing enterprise share gains, fueled by the EX switch and SRX security platforms, will pave the way for healthy profitability going forward. Moreover, strategic alliances and new acquisitions are positives for Juniper. However, Juniper’s European exposure will likely weigh on the stock.

We remain encouraged by the rapid deployment of Juniper’s networking products and services by organizations and government verticals to meet the growing demand. We also appreciate Juniper’s continuous efforts to make strategic acquisitions, which enrich its product portfolio.

However, stiff competition from market leader Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) and upcoming networking company Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) are headwinds for the stock..
